POLAND — Candidates for state Senate District 20 and House Districts 65 and 66 will participate in a forum presented by Friends of Ricker Library on Thursday, Sept. 29.
The event will be held in the conference room of the Town Office from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be televised on the public access channel. It will also be available at townhallstreams.com/locations/poland-me.
This year, five of the six candidates vying to represent Poland live in other towns and are not well known by Poland voters. The forum is meant to give voters an opportunity to become informed about the candidates’ views and positions and to give candidates an opportunity to get to know residents, according to forum organizers.
Participating in the forum are Sen. Eric Brakey, R-Auburn, and challenger Kimberly Sampson of Auburn, candidates for Senate District 20.
Also participating are Rep. Michael McClelland, R-Raymond, and challenger Jessica Fay, also of Raymond, vying for House District 66; and Elijah Breton of Poland, who is challenging Rep. Ellie Espling, R-New Gloucester, for her seat in House District 65. Espling is not participating in the event.
Voters are invited to question candidates, either in person at the forum or by call-in to the event. Those who want to submit questions ahead of time may email them to [email protected].
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Absentee ballots may be picked up from the town clerk beginning Friday, Oct. 7.
