OXFORD — The Board of Selectmen on Thursday approved buying 15 septic tank pumps for wastewater treatment plant customers whose systems don’t have the pitch for gravity feed to the new plant.

The cost is $32,305 for the pumps and associated equipment. The package was recommended by engineer Brent Bridges of Woodard & Curran Inc. from three bids.

Town Manager Derik Goodine said after the meeting that if more than 15 customers need the units, more will be ordered. There is no cost to customers.

The need for pumps will be determined on a case-by-case basis. They will be installed inside the concrete and will not be visible.

Connecting certain sections of the town to the new sewer system is ongoing. Businesses along Route 26 from Roopers Beverage and Redemption Store to Roller Rink Road will be connected to the pump station near Oxford Plains Speedway. Those from Roller Rink Road to Maine-ly Action Sports will be hooked into the pump station on Route 121.

The Hampton Inn across Route 26 from Oxford Casino is hooked to the system.

The $28 million plant is on Route 121 near the intersection with Route 26.

In other business, selectmen:

• Certified the local road assistance program funds. The state has estimated Oxford will receive $61,696 for this fiscal year, beginning July 1, 2016;

• Signed the state evaluation; and

• Heard from Goodine that he is awaiting for Time Warner Cable to advise of changes to customers’ cable service. The company was bought by Charter Communications.
