AUBURN — Thos. Moser, handmade American furniture, recently announced it has received four 2016 Good Design Awards for its Hartford Collection, Hartford lounge chair, Hancock chair and Portland chair.

The Hartford Collection includes a sofa, side table, coffee table and media case. The collection, along with the Hartford lounge chair and Hancock chair, were designed by Adam Rogers, Thos. Moser’s director of design.

The Portland chair was designed for Thos. Moser by Ben Klebba of Phloem Studio in Stevenson, Washington.

Good Design is the world’s oldest awards program recognizing design and manufacturing excellence worldwide. It is organized annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. This year the museum received thousands of submissions from designers, leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms, including Fortune 500 companies from around the world.

The 66th Good Design Award recipients include over 900 cutting-edge designs in a variety of categories, such as new electronics, energy systems, robotics and bionics, building materials, furniture, textiles, environments, household, office and children’s products, lighting, graphics and branding, among others, representing more than 46 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Criteria for judging includes innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility and energy efficiency.

“To receive multiple Good Design Awards, and to be recognized by such a program of global design excellence, is a significant and historic acknowledgement for Thos. Moser,” said Aaron Moser, the company’s president and CEO.
