SACO, Maine (AP) — General Dynamics says it has won a $28 million contract to build .50-caliber machine guns to be delivered to the Army late this year.
The M2 heavy barrel machine guns will be produced at the company’s weapons plant in Saco, Maine, and the project will be overseen by the company’s technology center in Burlington, Vt.
General Dynamics says the contract extension modifies an award from 2007, bringing the value to date to more than $100 million. Since 1979, the company’s Saco site has delivered more than 25,000 M2 heavy barrel machine guns to the U.S. government.
