WILTON —  An annual senior resource fair wants to include family, friends and caregivers this year.

The Franklin County Senior, Caregivers and Family Resource Fair takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, in the Wilton Public Safety Building at 874 Main Street.

It is open to anyone interested in learning more about local services for seniors and it is free, said Danielle Wilbur, an event organizer with the PRRAPP Group whose work makes the fair possible.

The group, Preventing, Recognizing and Responding to Abuse in At-Risk Populations, includes police officers from the Farmington, Jay and Wilton departments, along members from the legal profession and area social services, she said.

Guest speakers for this year’s fair include Betty Balderston, elder abuse prevention advocate with Legal Services for the Elderly, and Martha Currier, complaint examiner with the Maine attorney general’s office.

Once again, the fire station becomes a setting for a variety of area organizations and businesses to set up displays showing the resources they offer.  Information about how to avoid scams, protect assets and find local resources will be available.

Representatives from Sen. Angus King’s and Sen. Susan Collins’ offices will attend the fair to talk with seniors and listen to their concerns, Wilbur said.

A free lunch is served starting at 11:30 a.m. Gift bags are available for participants, and this year a raffle drawing at the end will provide some nice prizes, she said.

SeniorsPlus will also bring their restaurant vouchers for participants. The vouchers provide seniors with a limited choice of meals at select area restaurants for $5 and a tip for the waitress, she said.
