SOUTH PARIS — Yvonne Simoneau, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Sunday, June 3, after a brief battle with acute leukemia.
She was born Sept. 18, 1940, to Joseph Baker, Jr. and Helen Trimm. In 1981, she married the handsome, blue-eyed Paul Simoneau and they raised eight children together: Pamela Piirainen, Steven Piirainen, Troy Piirainen, Edwin Piirainen, Trina Piirainen, Greg Simoneau, Angela Estabrooks, and Kristine Simoneau.
She is remembered for her compassionate soul, always offering a place to stay, a plate of food or a listening ear to those in need. She did everything, from having the curliest hair style, to making the greatest bread pudding or mac and cheese at Christmas time, to being the best player on the basketball court with her grandchildren. She exhibited strength and resilience her entire life, and always looked at the good in people. If you were lucky, you heard her quiet, quick-witted remarks that made any person in the room laugh.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Simoneau; her sons Troy Piirainen, Edwin Piirainen and Greg Simoneau; her daughters Angela Estabrooks and Kristine Simoneau; and many incredibly lucky grandchildren, who will forever carry her memory, guidance and strength with them.
Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
