Waterford seeking parade participants
WATERFORD — Waterford will hold its annual Fourth of July parade starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 4,at the Waterford Elementary School, 148 Valley Road.
Participants should line up at 10:30 a.m. The parade will head south down Valley Road to the intersection of Waterford Road and Route 37 and will continue south ending at the commons.

SLCOA planning benefit, annual meeting
ROXBURY — The Silver Lake Camp Owners Association pancake breakfast and basket raffle be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Mary’s Chapel on Roxbury Pond.
This will be followed by the SLCOA annual business meeting at 10 a.m. in the Chapel.

Texas Hold’Em poker planned
PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas Hold’Em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall.
The event is open to the public. The Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.

Canton Historical Society open house
CANTON — The Canton Historical Society, 25 Turner St., will host an open house in its new facility at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7.
Last summer, CHS coordinated the demolition of its old building and moved an historic hall built in 1897 to the same site.
Members of the society have been working to complete the new building, organize the collection of historic records and artifacts, and create displays. CHS members have also been working on a gift shop which will sell products made in New England and artwork from local artisans.
The open house will include a ribbon cutting, a few special guests and light refreshments. Attendees will be able to view the new exhibit space, tour the building and visit the gift shop. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, fresh strawberry shortcake will be available for purchase with the proceeds benefiting the CHS.
This event is free of admission and open to the public.
Legion to hold flag disposal ceremony
RUMFORD — The Rumford Post 24, American Legion, will have a Dignified Flag Disposal Ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7. A meal will follow.
All unserviceable flags are welcome; they may be brought to 184 Congress St.

HARRISON — Caswell Conservancy Center will participate in Harrison Old Home Days on Saturday, July 7, at 42 Main St., marking the 110 anniversary of the Caswell House.
