Buckfield Historical Society meeting

BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Historical Society will meet Thursday, July 12, at the Buckfield Town Hall.

There will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m., and the meeting will be at 7 p.m. The Society will vote on revision of the Constitution and Bylaws. 

New members are accepted. Anyone interested is encouraged to come.

David Cheever from Maine State Archives will be the guest speaker.

River paddles scheduled in Paris

PARIS — The Paris Parks and Recreation Committee will host paddling excursions on the Little Androscoggin River from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays, July 14, Aug. 8, Sept. 11 and Oct. 13.

Kayakers and canoeists are invited to enjoy an afternoon of exploring the Little Androscoggin. Kayaks will be available for those who do not have one.

The town leases the Paris Utility District property at 1 Paris Hill. People are invited to not only access the river, but bring a picnic or walk the property and photograph the abundant wildlife.

Franklin County ride benefit

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Chapter of United Bikers of Maine is sponsoring the Christmas Basket Ride and Barbecue, a scenic ride through Franklin County on Saturday, July 14.

The public event will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Mount Blue Shopping Center on Wilton Road, departing at 10 a.m. to tour Northern Franklin County. It will end with a chicken barbecue at 1 p.m. on the Webb River at 847 Carthage Road in Carthage.

Those unable to ride may attend the barbecue. Cost will be $10 per plate. All funds raised will go toward presents for children in need at Christmas. Food will be donated by United Bikers of Maine. 

Christian Woman United luncheon

PARIS — The Christian Woman United luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the South Paris Congregational Church, 17 East Main St.

Caroline Coffin of Auburn will be the singer. Call Janice at 207-743-5770 for reservations.
