A car burns Friday morning at the Irving gas station on Washington Street in Auburn. The local woman who owns the car reported she was able to get out of the vehicle after it went up in flames at about 11 a.m. After police and fire crews came to douse the flames, Heather Elliott Hill posted on Facebook to let her friends know that she was OK. “Let me start by saying I am ok and glad no one else around was hurt,” Hill wrote. “My car caught on fire today. It was scary, but no one was hurt and that is all that matters. I am grateful to all the kind people who jumped into action while I was in shock. I want to thank the policeman and firefighters who helped keep everyone safe and put the fire out… I feel fortunate that I got out of my car when I did. It is unbelievable.” It was not immediately clear what caused the car to catch fire. (Nate Dow photo)
