LEWISTON – Voters in most of Lewiston’s seven wards should have a pretty simple time voting Tuesday.

Only three of 16 potential races are contested this year. One race, for Ward 6 School Committee, has no candidate. But the remaining 12 have incumbent candidates with no challengers for their seats.

Mayor Lionel C. Guay is defending his job against five-time candidate Charles Soule. Ward 3 incumbent Lillian O’Brien hopes to win another two-year term in her race against challenger Marc Mason.

Candidates Paul Samson and Larry Poulin are both vying to replace Robert Connors as Ward 5 councilor.

The Lewiston city clerk’s office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon today for absentee voting and new voter registration.
