Open barn

NEW GLOUCESTER — Open Gates Equine Rescue Inc., 407 Morse Road, will host its annual open barn event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 19.

All are welcome to come meet Katie Lisnik from the Humane Society of the United States, equine dentists Jana and Steve Scotia and animal communicator Louise Poppema. A light lunch will be served. For more information, call 926-5570.

Language classes

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will offer an advanced Spanish class starting Tuesday, July 6, for those who are ready to practice what they’ve learned and want to expand their vocabulary and understanding of the language.

A beginner French course will begin on Wednesday, July 7. Classes that do not have the minimum students registered may be cancelled. To register on line, visit www.msad52.maineadulted.org.

Grange meeting

POLAND — The members of Excelsior Grange 5 will gather at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the hall, 446 Harris Hill Road, to carpool to the Village Inn in Auburn for dinner. They will then return to the hall for a regular meeting at 7 p.m. The election of officers will take place.

Volunteers needed

LEWISTON – Museum L-A is holding a “Helping Hands and Hearts Day” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 19, at the site of its future location, the former Camden Yarns Mill on Beech Street.

Volunteers are needed to help spruce up the grounds of the building in preparation for special events to be held this summer. Equipment is also needed to do the the work, said Museum L-A Executive Director Rachel Desgrosseilliers. Anyone interested in helping may call the museum at 333-3881.

Summer theater

POWNAL — Kids ages 8 and up are invited to attend the Fiddlehead Summer Theater Day Camp at Pownal Elementary School. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 12 to 30, and will culminate in two community performances of Disney’s “Aladdin Jr.”
