Bridge results
NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met July 16 at the Oxford Community Rec Center for a weekly session.
Coming in first were Marilyn and Richard Canton; second, Pam and Errol Libby; tied for third and fourth, Nancy Farmer and Jim Dickens and Nick Karamessinis and Paul Kahl; fifth, Dick Allen and Richard Balian.
Newcomers are always welcome.
Smith reunion
FRYEBURG — The Simon and Maryann Smith family reunion will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, in the beano building at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds. There will be entertainment, a variety show, Chinese auction, pinata and children’s games. Attendees should bring a dish to share for the potluck dinner. Coffee, doughnuts, soda, plates and flatware will be furnished.

Music Sunday
WATERFORD — Honoring its long history of church music, the Waterford Congregational Church will hold its seventh annual Music Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 25, at the church, just off the Town Common on Plummer Hill Road.
The summer tradition features a choir of 30 men and women of all faiths who join in song in a mostly-music service of traditional and nontraditional church music. Choir director Jane Morse and accompanist Kay Leslie will again lead the morning of song.
All are invited to attend the service and the coffee hour following at the Wilkins Community House next door to the church. All are welcome to see the photo exhibit sponsored by the Waterford Historical Society in its Old Town House building next to the town beach and to visit the open house at the Waterford Library. The Mary Gage Rice Museum next to the library will also be open.
Summer breakfast
WATERFORD — The third in a series of four summer breakfasts will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Wilkins Community House, just off the Town Common on Plummer Hill Road.
A tradition of more than 50 years, the breakfasts offer a menu of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, freshly made muffins, doughnuts, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for children under 5. The final breakfast will be Wednesday, Aug. 11.
An indoor yard sale will also take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. in the Wilkins House basement. New items appear at each sale. Proceeds from the sale go to the Building Improvement Fund.
Open house
WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will welcome residents and visitors at an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in conjunction with Music Sunday at the Waterford Congregational Church and the Waterford Historical Society’s summer photo exhibit. Light refreshments will be available. Guests will have an opportunity to learn about the historic library and explore its collection and services.
The library is a colonial revival style building designed by Portland architect John Calvin Stevens and his son, John Howard Stevens. This firm was also responsible for the rebuilding of the second story after a fire in 1937. The library is part of the Waterford Flats Historic District.
Crafters needed
SOUTH PARIS — Crafters are needed for the following shows: Saturday, Aug. 7 and Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Western Maine Veterans’ Home, table rentals are $15; Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the South Paris American Legion Hall, table rentals are $10. Legion dance
SOUTH PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will play old-fashioned dance music from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 24 and 31, at the Legion Hall on Church Street. The cost is $5. The lunch counter will be open.
DAR meeting
SEBAGO — The Molly Ockett Chapter National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, met on July 2 at the home of member Edie Cole. The meeting was called to order by Regent Lynn Cummings-Pike. There were 16 in attendance. After the business meeting, a DVD on the NSDAR National Library in Washington, D.C., was shown. The library is one of the nation’s premier genealogical libraries. Lunch was provided by hostesses Edie Cole, Priscilla Durden and Bobbie MacLean.

Open house
OTISFIELD — The Bell Hill Meetinghouse on Bell Hill Road will be open for public inspection from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25. There will be several open houses during the summer, in partial compliance with the terms of a New Century Community Program grant for historic buildings renovation which the association received in 2008. Since receiving that grant, the association has undertaken some basic repairs to the historic 1839 meetinghouse, including reroofing part of the building, repairing and strengthening the windows and resetting several granite foundation stones and the front steps.
The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
