NORWAY — The Norway Triathlon, run on July 10, attracted athletes from 12 states, Maine to California, and drew many generations of competitors, ages 18 to 69. While the sanctioned event attracted top triathletes, it also included a diverse range of competitors. Forty competitors were over 50; and 12 were over 60. Organizers presented an award to a local relay team whose members were age 67, 68 and 69.
There were 114 individuals and 23 team entries, representing more than 183 competitors racing for the Norway Tri cowbell awards (Norway Triathlon proceeds support recreational trails on the former Roberts Jersey Dairy Farm in Norway).
The Triathlon committee was composed of Mark White, Scott Berk, Doug Van Durme, Deb Partridge, Peter Roy, Matt Woods and Ben Tucker. With the help of more than 50 volunteers, two lifeguards, two PACE paramedic teams and assistance from the Norway police and fire departments, the race was completed without issue.
Angela Bancroft, Sarah Pribram and Allison Stratis took with top three honors for women; Bancroft finishing with a time of an hour, 10 minutes and 3 seconds. Men’s top three honors went to Stephen Judice (finishing in an hour, 5 minutes, 33 seconds), Eric Darling, and Matt Woods.
The top finishing men’s team was the Florenz family, Go with the Flo, which came in with a time of 1:12:55. Top women’s team was Team Goodtimes, finishing in 1:19:19. The fastest coed team was Casino NO! with 1:29:17. A posting of all results can be found at www.allsportsevents.com.
