Children in grades one to seven participated this summer in a camp for reading. While other activities are involved, such as excursions and beach days, kids who read 10 books got one free, through a donation from the Auburn/Lewiston Kiwanis Club. On Aug. 9, all of the 250 participants picked their free book with help from counselors and peers. Pictured, front to back, are Alana Leonard, fourth to sixth grade leader; Lauren Ouellette, seventh to eighth grade leader; Laurie Pinkham of the Auburn Public Library; Jeremy Gatcomb, program leader; and Brad Ouellette, camp director.
