VFW meeting

LEWISTON — Members of the Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

All officers and members and encouraged to attend. The agenda will include upcoming Veterans Day activities, Buddy Poppies and related veterans activities.

Veterans wishing to join the VFW should contact Armand Bussiere at 688-2291.

Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 16 were: first, Andrea Metayer and Hope Hughes; second, Anita Cusson and Sandy Oliver; third, Jeanne Collette and Irene Beauchesne; fourth, Cecile LeBlond and Mickie Farnum; fifth, Steve Agurkis and Terry Chambers.

The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.

Poland program

POLAND — Janet Littlefield of Hebron, founder of the Little Field Home in Malawi, will speak at the next Poland Person to Person Program. The event, sponsored by Friends of Ricker Library, will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in the Community Room of the Poland Library.

Malawi, a sub-Saharan African nation, has more than one million orphans and a high rate of HIV/AIDS. Littlefield offers American high school and college students an opportunity to volunteer to work with orphans at Little Field.

All are invited to participate in the community event. Attendees are asked to bring a casserole, salad or dessert for the table.

Zumba benefit

LEWISTON — A Zumba event to benefit the Dempsey Challenge will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

The event is open to the public and will be hosted by Zumba Maine instructors as well as other guest instructors. All of the proceeds will benefit the Patrick Dempsey Center for cancer Hope and Healing. Call 344-8638 to register. Registration will also be accepted at the door.

Grange program

DANVILLE — Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the hall. A program, “What is the Grange?” will be presented by the lecturer.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.
