NEW SHARON — Three vehicles were damaged in an accident on Mercer Road about noon Monday, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.

Mike Sawyer, 50, of New Sharon stopped his 2007 Jeep Wrangler in the eastbound lane to turn left into Pitcher Perfect Tire when Richard Dickinson, 82, of Smithfield drove his 2010 Ford truck into the breakdown lane to go around Sawyer. Alixx Canwell, 18, of Chelsea, hit the back of the stopped Jeep with her 2006 VW Jetta and pushed it into the Ford truck passing on the right, Nichols said.

All three drivers refused transport by Northstar Ambulance Service.

The Jeep and Jetta were hauled from the scene.

Deputy David Davol and New Sharon fire and rescue personnel assisted at the scene.
