WILTON — A Massachusetts man was injured Monday morning when the car he was driving and a tractor-trailer truck collided on Routes 2 and 4, near New Life Pentecostal Church.

A 2019 Toyota Camry driven by Leslie Payne, 58, of Westwood, Massachusetts, was headed toward Farmington and a tractor-trailer truck driven by Wayne Gurschick, 51, of Turner was heading toward East Dixfield, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Payne was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was released after treatment, Wilcox said.

Guerschick was not injured, she said. The truck is owned by Hartt Transportation Systems of Bangor.

Wilton primary investigator, officer Kevin Lemay was assisted at the scene by officer Brian Lynch and Wilcox. Also assisting were as Maine State Police Forensic Mapping and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement units. Wilton Fire Rescue, NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel, Jay Police and Jay Fire Rescue departments also assisted at the accident reported at 5:58 a.m.

The cause remains under investigation, Wilcox said.

A section of the road from Gould’s Service Station to Main Street in East Wilton was closed for more than three hours.
