World War II veteran Del Gendron, 93, second from left, and his son, George Gendron, pause as the family of Don Gosselin brings the casket of the Army National Guard and Army Reserve veteran to Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street in Lewiston on Thursday. Gosselin, of Lewiston, died June 9 at the age of 82. Veterans’ organizations held a “goodbye ceremony” at the park following his funeral at Holy Cross Church. “Don was very active with veterans and with his church,” Norm Cote of the L&A Veterans Council said. “He was strong as an ox and a very hard worker,” veteran Bert Dutil said. Cote said Del Gendron was a very good friend of Gosselin, who wanted to be sure plans were in place to have a bench in his memory placed next to one honoring Gendron.
