100 years ago,1911

The annual salary resolve, the election of grand and petit jurors for the United States District Court, steps taken toward improving the Sabattus Street cemetery and the granting of a number of petitions were the various articles of business transacted at the meeting of the Lewiston City Government. It was the first meeting of the entire board to be held since last spring.

50 years ago, 1961

The famous Poland Spring Hotel summer resort property has been sold by the National Associates of Boston, headed by George W. Lane of Auburn.

The new owners, Apollo Industries Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., took over immediate possession on completion of negotiations at Boston on Wednesday, and plan to continue operation of the property with the same employees.

The property has been owned by Lane and the National Associates, successor to the National Fireworks Corp., since 1942.

25 years ago, 1986

An open house at the Jordan School Saturday gave former students, teachers, staff members and the general public the opportunity to see how the building has been developed for apartments. Since the building is on the National Register of Historic Places, many of the original features of the Lewiston school have been preserved.
