100 years ago,1911

The Auburn police wish to warn the parents of children who are sliding on hills that cross the electric car tracks. The police have been bothered a lot lately and unless the parents intrude, the officers state they will take the sleds away from the children sliding on these hills.

50 years ago, 1961

Chief Alton E. Savage of Auburn police told members of the Citizens Band Pine Tree II Club last night of the valuable service such an organization can render in an emergency situation through the communications network which its members could set up.

The chief was the speaker at a meeting of the club last night and action was taken to offer the services of club members in establishing such a communications network to augment existing official communications systems.

25 years ago, 1986

Next Sunday the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will run a Peewee basketball tournament for boys and girls 10 and under. The tournament is sponsored by Austin Associates of Two Great Falls Plaza in Auburn.

All players and coaches will receive patches for their participation. Emphasis will be on fun, not winning or losing.

Teams from Bangor, Brunswick and Lisbon will join the local Y team coached by Mike Johnson.
