100 years ago,1911

Harry L. Plummer of Lewiston, one of the best known photographers in the state, has purchased the Howard Studio at 124 Lisbon St., and will take possession of the same in early April.

Mr. Plummer’s purchase includes all of the negatives and equipment of the Howard Studio. Extensive repairs and alterations will be made at the Howard Studio, so that when Mr. Plummer takes possession, it will be one of the finest photographic studios in the state.

50 years ago, 1961

Dandelions may be just another weed and not exactly welcomed later in the spring; but at this time of year, they are a sure harbinger of spring and a welcome sight  indeed.

Dr. Charles Steele, Lewiston physician, found a dandelion in bloom yesterday. Although he revealed the fact the blossom was found in the vicinity of CMG hospital, he is keeping the exact location a secret. It could be that he hopes to be the first in the Twin Cities to enjoy a meal of dandelion greens.

25 years ago, 1986

Applewood Estates, a six-building apartment complex proposed to be built at 971 Sabattus St., will be discussed at a public hearing on April 8, the Lewiston Planning Board decided Tuesday.

The project includes the construction of 44 dwelling units, plus the creation of a new road through the four-acre site to connect Sabattus and Hartley streets.
