Lewiston, Auburn city councils to consider changes to airport board

The councils will meet Monday to discuss a proposal to downsize the airport’s board of directors.

The council approved next year’s budget by a 4-1 vote, with two councilors absent. A final reading will take place May 15.

The council will put the $227,000 toward automating its trash pickup service.

City officials have previously said they’d like the former school redeveloped into market-rate housing.

The proposed municipal and school budgets for fiscal year 2024 reflect a 5.4% increase from this year.

A current draft would allow anyone with a 10-acre parcel to develop a home, but stipulates only 20% of the lot can be developed.

The city will sell the former church to a developer who plans to renovate it into 20 market-rate apartments.

The 4-3 vote approved a tax increment financing agreement for the Court Street housing complex.

The council is expected to vote to approve the application immediately following the public hearing during Monday’s council meeting.

Councilors will decide this month whether to approve a tax increment financing district for Stable Ridge property at 555 Court St.
