Franklin County tax rate decreases by one cent

Commissioners voted to pay $300 per hour to an investigator conducting an internal investigation of county government.

The Budget Advisory Committee voted 6-1 to not reject the budget.

The budget committee asked panel to take $58,001 from undesignated funds to pay three agencies.

The new law requires current commissioners to put it before voters on Nov. 2.

Commissioners also set a special meeting for June 24 to review the Budget Advisory Committee’s $7 million budget.

Commissioners also voted Tuesday to hire two deputies pending passing polygraph tests and background checks, and three dispatchers.

The committee narrowly agreed to add $58,001 to the program grant line to pay three agencies what was raised previously but not distributed.

The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. June 2 in the upstairs courtroom at the county courthouse.
