Readfield-area school budget will increase by 5%, but taxpayers could spend up to 7% more than last year

The school district worked over three months to cut the budget down from a proposed 10% increase to lessen the impact on taxpayers.

School officials can’t figure out what caused the spike, and so far only Maranacook Community High School has been impacted.
