Jay residents to vote on proposed $6.1 million budget, officials, ordinances

The proposed spending plan is about $282,800 more than the current budget, which will expire on June 30.

Townspeople will have two proposed contracts to consider at the June town meeting.

Three municipal officials will be elected, discontinuing a road to winter maintenance and budget amounts will also be acted on.

Voters passed a $4.57 million budget Saturday and welcomed new officials who won Friday elections.

Residents debated the proposed solar farm and request for rezoning from Hillandale Farms Conn.

The meeting, set for Tuesday, April 9, will be to discuss the possibility of extending the current six month moratorium on cannabis licenses.

Town officials are also proposing a roughly 7.5% increase in municipal expenditures.

The proposed $4.57 million municipal budget is an increase of about $550,000 over last year.

Only a few questions were raised about the 34 articles voters considered on Monday night, March 25.
