RSU 9 hears good news all around
Regional School Unit 9 board of directors heard many different good news stories on Tuesday, March 28, which made for a positive atmosphere in light of recent events.
W.G. Mallett still struggling with attendance, volunteers
Principal Tracy Williams of W.G. Mallett School gave an administrative report to the RSU 9 Board of Directors, showing some of the issues the school has faced, which included attendance, poor literacy scores and a decline in volunteers to assist the staff.
RSU 9 recognizes the passing of former W.G. Mallett Principal Gerald Libby
Regional School Unit 9 recognized the passing of former W.G. Mallett school principal Gerald Glen Libby, who passed at the age of 85 years old. He was the principal for 32 years and was a big figure in the Farmington community. RSU 9 Board of Directors also granted the sabbatical request of Mt. Blue High School math teacher Meng Hardy.

WG Mallett School held its Fall Frolic Friday, Oct. 21, an annual event for students to enjoy fall activities.

The programming, available across the district, help students maintain skills through the summer and help older students recover course credits missed during the school year.

Stacey Augustine, who has worked with Regional School Unit 9 for 20 years, said she is honored to be selected as the Department of Education’s Franklin County Teacher of the Year and is happy to see how proud her son is.
RSU 9 proposes $40.1 million budget for 2022-23 school year
The budget is a $1.23 million (3.17%) increase over 2021-22. Increased spending areas of note include a 646.60% increase for food services, 8.01% increase for school administration, 13.45% increase for facilities and maintenance, a 5.3% increase for special instruction and debt service with a 9.56% decrease.
